Following her decision to further her career in the dental field, she completed the Diploma in Dental Hygiene, again in the Dental Hospital in 2002, where she graduated with honours and joined our dental team in the same year.
In conjunction with working in general dental practice, Sonja has also worked for a number of years in periodontal practice, where she gained significant experience in the treatment of patients with severe periodontal disease. She continues to support and expand on her knowledge by attending educational training. In 2007, Sonja completed a training course in communications and obtained a certificate in local anaesthesia from the Dublin Dental Hospital. She is a member of the Irish Dental Hygienists Association .
As a dental hygienist, Sonja’s role is to provide the appropriate oral care and maintenance treatments for each individual patient and to provide them with the skills and understanding to maintain their smiles. She places great importance on creating a relaxed, understanding and friendly environment for optimum patient comfort.
Carolyn has been a hygienist at the practice since 1998 and has huge expertise in this field. She trained as a DSA in the Dublin Dental Hospital on leaving school in 1979. Following a few years working in various dental practices, her interest in dental hygiene led her to attend the dental school in Glasgow, where she undertook a diploma in dental hygiene qualification. The next 5 years were spent in London, where she worked in private practices in Harley Street and Putney. As part of her continued professional development, Carolyn regularly attends the annual Irish Dental Association conferences and lectures for maintenance and treatment for periodontal disease. She has completed courses in radiography, instrumentation and hygiene and patient care in the Dublin Dental Hospital. Carolyn provides our patients with unparalled care, while being cheerful and enthusiastic.
